Mourning a Hero at 7:58pm

Not twenty minutes ago, I found out about the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman.

This man was an absolute fucking hero. I cannot express how much of an icon he was, and will undoubtedly continue to be even in passing. I cannot speak to all of his work, because, truthfully, I only knew him from his appearances in the Marvel films. Yet, just from his time in the MCU, Chadwick Boseman broke cinematic ground; Black Panther is an incredibly nuanced title that shattered expectations, as well as outdated stereotypes for Black characters in film. Its message and themes were so incredibly well-executed, and did so much to positively and accurately depict Black characters in media, that it is nothing short of art. Chadwick Boseman is by no means the only person responsible for this film, but he was the man who wore the mantle of Black Panther, and inspired anyone, be they Black, White, Latin, or what have you, to strive for greatness, and to break down barriers. He will be missed dearly, not just by fans of the Marvel superhero, but by any who he touched with his greatness.

Rest in Peace, King.
